Year in Review 2023

What a successful year! I have been fully booked for most of the year and am currently finally in a position to tackle my waiting list and start with some new learners. The new year is a great time to learn a language!

I am coming into my second year of learning Spanish and have begun to take on tutees at a beginners level now. It is really enjoyable and I look forward to getting over to a Spanish-speaking country in the future and putting it into practise.

I have finished my third novel in French and have been enjoying my advanced learners lessons a lot as it enables me to expand my vocabulary.

Earlier this year I also landed my first permanent teaching job in nearly eight years and am really enjoying feeling settled-in at a new workplace.

Excited for 2024!

Year in Review 2022

I have been learning Spanish for ten months now and have made good progress although do not feel ready to tutor in it yet. Taking up a fourth language has reminded me how time-consuming language learning is and how much frequent practice and consolidation is key.

I have also resumed secondary classroom teaching and have been really enjoying returning to the older age group. The professional development time is invaluable for my tutoring business as I get to grips with the new exam specification and assist with moderating GCSE work in school.

I am fully booked with tutees now for the first time since launching Fluent Fenn almost two years ago, It is brilliant being my own boss and having a successful business behind me, I am constantly learning new things.

New Year 2022

I am full of new year new intentions. This year it is to learn Spanish! With the aim of teaching beginners in September 2022. I am looking forward to learning a new language (It’s been a while!) and getting my head round the grammar and pronunciation etc. I am on the hunt for a teacher so if you know of anybody please get in touch!

I have been doing lots of long term planning an preparation for my current students. Many of whom have exams this month so lots to do. I am also running a group class online via the platform ‘Tutorful’ so if you are interested in booking on please let me know or visit their website. It starts on the 18th January for 3 weeks and is £36.

Black Friday Sale

I am running a little promotion for the month of December, book any 30 minute daytime trial lesson for just £5!

I have also sorted my lesson planning into new project organisers ready for the new year, remember all Fluent Fenn lessons are planned bespoke!

Spring has Sprung

Planted my new pot for the doorstep yesterday. Feeling very spring like. My dad was asking me what I do to keep my languages fresh, other than teaching them of course. I thought it was about time I bought myself some new novels in French and German. So I have purchased Les yeux jaunes des crocodiles by Katherine Pancol, un soir au club by Christian Gailly and Die Therapie by Sebastian Fitzek. Reviews to follow!
